Hello! It takes courage to reach out for help and I am so glad you are here.
I am passionate about supporting the mental health of women, parents, children and families. I have a special interest in working with South Asian women and moms who may be experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, burnout and/ or relationship challenges, marital issues, parenting struggles and/or navigating complex in- law dynamics and intergenerational issues. I also enjoy working with and supporting women navigating pregnancy, postpartum or peri- menopause transition.
I work from a multi- cultural lens, bringing both my lived, personal and professional experiences as a first generation, South Asian woman/mom/therapist to the table. Imagine talking to a therapist who " gets" your cultural background without you having to "explain" it!

My name is Jaskirn Johal-Dhillon, and I am a bilingual mental health therapist who speaks both English and Punjabi. I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Fresno. I specialize in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, attachment challenges in adulthood, and those seeking inner child healing. My work is grounded in the belief that early childhood experiences shape our internal blueprint, yet with increased self-awareness and compassionate therapeutic support, those patterns can be understood, healed, and transformed. I am passionate about working with people from diverse backgrounds and helping them reconnect with their authentic selves so they can lead the life they choose to live.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California with six years of experience working with teens and adults. I earned my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego and hold a National Certified Counselor credential. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who have spent a long time holding things together for others, managing responsibilities, and feeling stretched thin underneath. My work centers on slowing things down, noticing the patterns shaping their relationships and sense of self, and building toward change that feels grounded and sustainable. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and practice via telehealth throughout California.
I'm a Licensed Therapist and a Licensed Advanced Addiction Counselor with over 10 years of experience in the field. My education and professional expertise rests on a backbone of a personal journey of healing. I deeply understand the challenges on the road to recovery and can help you navigate them. I approach therapy from a holistic model, with an emphasis on all aspects of your wellbeing. My practice is grounded in evidence-based and trauma-informed interventions, with an emphasis on somatic work. Are you struggling to have harmony in your relationships? Does having ease in your life seem like a far-fetched dream? Are you feeling overwhelmed with the state of the world and all you have to do? Welcome, you're in the right place! I have been in your shoes and the first (or twenty) step is always the hardest. As someone who has learned to balance multiple cultures, I know what it can feel like to straddle various parts of your identity. I have first hand experienced feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, angry, and at a complete loss for how to navigate the intensity of my emotions. This has informed my practice and work with clients where I strongly believe that our emotions guide us to understanding ourselves in a new light. Asking for help can be difficult, especially in a culture that values productivity over personality.
Please note: I work with adults 40-64 on a case-by-case basis.

I believe you can discover the root of your struggles and are capable of overcoming hardships. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, family conflicts, or issues with motivation, self-esteem, or confidence, I’m here to help.
Taking the first step toward change can feel overwhelming, but it’s also an act of courage and self-care.
My style is warm, direct, honest, and rooted in compassion.
Your journey is unique, and I’m committed to meeting you exactly where you are.
I take an active role in therapy and typically don't do the minimalistic responses - though there is a time and place for this. I like to have conversational-style dialogue with clients, and feel that I am open and empathic while bringing in humor and "realness" to the session; I show up as my true self as much as possible.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University, and my MS in Counseling Psychology from SMU.
The primary modalities I find most impactful are EMDR (I am an EMDRIA Certificied EMDR Therapist and EMDR Consultant-In-Training/CIT) with an attachment-focused and polyvagal theory lens.
I hold advanced training in EMDR, ART, Brainspotting, Trauma Conscious Yoga Method, and others. I am an expert in treating trauma with medication-assisted psychotherapy and have completed numerous trainings in training from MAPS PBC, as well as a year-long fellowship in with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (Headway does not allow these services on their platform).
I am licensed in over 15 states and am a board-approved Associate counselor supervisor in multiple states as well, where I oversee the required supervised hours of associate-level counselors working towards their full licensure status.
In my non-therapy time, I enjoy cooking (and eating - I'm a bit of a foodie), concerts, reading, traveling, being outside, pilates (all hail the reformer!), and playing golf with my husband. We live in Austin, TX with our dog, Otter.
