Top therapists in Florida accepting new patients
I have dedicated most of my career to working in the healthcare and mental health industry, helping clients overcome life's many struggles.
I am trained to employ a variety of techniques, which include cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) for anxiety, depression, and other related disorders. I also have special interests in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and coaching. All of my techniques are compassion-focused, person-centered, solution-oriented, and strength-based therapies
Hi! I'm glad you're here. You don't have to do this alone, and I'm happy to walk with you on your path to healing. Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so I commend you on your courage to take the next steps. With over a decade of clinical experience and training, my passion is specifically empowering healing for trauma survivors from what has kept them stuck or feeling defined from their pain. I have worked with clients from all different backgrounds, cultures, and ages who've also struggled with depression, anxiety, shame, fear-based thinking, anger, behavioral issues, ineffective communication, grief, and relationship problems.
Denise Chandler, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP Family Nurse Practitioner • Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner • Women’s Health Specialist
Hello, my name is Denise Chandler. I have been an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse since 2011 and bring more than 23 years of nursing experience. I hold Master’s degrees in Nursing Healthcare Education and Family Practice and am certified in both Family Practice and Psychiatric Mental Health.
For over a decade, I worked exclusively in Women’s Health Care, where I developed a deep understanding of how hormonal changes affect physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Today, I provide care for men, women, and youth ages 14 and older who may be experiencing hormone-related changes, mood disorders, or life transitions.
Common concerns I treat include menopause, perimenopause, PMDD, puberty, and menstrual irregularities such as dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and anemia. I also address sexual health concerns like painful sex, orgasmic dysfunction, and low libido, as well as ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, panic, insomnia, stress, fatigue, and weight management challenges.
My approach emphasizes whole-person care. I order lab work when needed, use genetic testing to guide safer medication choices, and educate on vitamins and supplements that may support healing. I frequently collaborate with therapists and counselors to enhance outcomes.
With clinical experience in neurology, cardiology, mental health, emergency medicine, gynecology, and obstetrics, and years as an educator, I make complex health concepts simple and actionable. Whether in person or virtually, I create a safe, open environment where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to restore balance and improve quality of life.
I believe that healing is most powerful when we feel seen, heard, and understood—especially when navigating difficult and vulnerable moments. Every client is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs and goals. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), & Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), with Mindfulness-Based Practices to promote self-awareness, acceptance, & stress reduction.
Let's work together and help you find your direction. My counseling style is highly consultative and coaching-like. It is typically non-directive, as I believe each client pilot's their own ship, but when the situation warrants, there is plenty of idea sharing and strategizing as well.
I have been practicing for 21 years and work with clients of all ages and various backgrounds. I believe that with a strong therapeutic alliance, we can mutually come together and help you find a path forward that suits you.
