Top therapists in Illinois accepting new patients
Hi, my name is Dr. Mark Aghakhan and I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in a variety of therapeutic, educative, consultative, and evaluative services. I utilize interventions that best match my client’s style and approach toward everyday challenges.
I have been a therapist for 30 years, and I love it. I love talking with people, getting to know people & helping them uncover their strengths, to help define a path forward. I have been lucky enough to work with so many different people, from different back grounds, in multiple settings. I am here to hold space for you, to provide a safe, non-judgmental place in your life.
My name is Nicole Washington, and while my full name is Catherine Nicole Washington, I’ve always gone by my middle name. (A fun fact: I didn’t even realize Catherine was my first name until kindergarten—I thought my mom was Catherine and my name was “Cole” because that’s what everyone called me!)
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Capella University, driven by a lifelong desire to help others—one that was deeply shaped by my own personal journey with mental health challenges. I believe healing is possible, not just because I’ve studied it, but because I’ve lived it.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including partial hospitalization programs, and I have experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults. My background also includes work with domestic violence survivors, DCFS-involved families, group therapy, and individuals navigating complex life transitions. Oh and I’m also a the spouse of a Veteran. Which gives me a unique perspective of the challenges that military family’s may encounter. These diverse experiences allow me to meet clients where they are—with compassion, understanding, and respect.
I offer support and skills to those exploring identity, intimacy, or relational complexity—whether in gender, sexuality, kink, or deocolonized relationships. They may be sitting with grief, unraveling the impact of trauma, or feeling the weight of past experiences in their body. They long for connection but struggle with vulnerability, trust, or belonging. Some feel stuck in cycles of overwhelm, while others are questioning the stories they’ve been told about who they are. They seek a space where they can be seen without judgment, process their experiences, and make sense of the systems shaping their lives.
I'm Jim Veltman, and I've been doing this work for over 40 years. I love helping people grow and I believe deep healing from inner wounds is possible. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Grayslake, Illinois. I see clients in person, and I work with clients across the state through telehealth. I see adults, teens, and couples dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and the complicated weight of struggling relationships. My background is grounded in both psychological training and a belief that healing isn't just clinical — it's deeply human, and often spiritual. If faith is part of your life, that's welcome here. If it's not, that's completely fine too. What matters is that we do honest, real work together.
Welcome! I would be honored to walk this journey of change with you. I have a master's degree in Community Counseling and a graduate certificate in Couples and Family Counseling. Having worked in higher education for over 30 years, I enjoy working with young adults and older adults. I am intrigued by all of the transitions in life, which could be related to identity, phase of life issues, all types of relationships, as well as more general issues related to mental health and life functioning.
